Reference Lines

Using Reference Lines, you can draw a line to indicate a specific value in the view. Add a constant or a computed value using any measure in the view. For example, in a view showing regional sales, you can add a reference line showing the average profit for those regions.

Step 1

Right-click a continuous axis and select Add Reference Line.

You can edit the reference line later by right-clicking the axis and selecting Edit Reference Line.

Step 2

In the Add Reference Line dialog box, under Scope, select an option to show a line across the entire table, just within the pane, or for each individual cell.

Step 3

Select the Value you want to reference. You can select a computation such as Average, Minimum, or Maximum, or you can select Constant to type a specific value. Computed values can be based on any measure used in the view.

Step 4

You can use the Formatting section of the dialog box to select a color and style options for the reference line. You can also use the Fill options to shade the background.
