Downloading Tableau Products

When you purchase Tableau you will receive a welcome email that explains what you need to do to download and install the software. Use the included user name and password to log into the Account Center so you can get the software and your product key. Follow the instructions below to download and install your products.

Step 1

Log in to the Tableau Software Customer Account Center using your e-mail address and the password provided by Tableau.

If you have not received your login information, please contact the Tableau Customer Service Team at customerservice@tableausoftware.com.

NOTE: If you are not taken to the My Account page automatically, click the Account link in the upper right corner of the page.

Step 2

Click the My Product Keys link.

Step 3

Copy the product key for the Tableau product you are installing.

Step 4

Click the Back button on your browser and then click the My Downloads link.

Step 5

Click the Download link for the product you want to install.

Step 6

Depending on your browser, do one of the following:
In Internet Explorer, in the File Download - Security Warning dialog box, click Save and then select a location.

In Mozilla Firefox, in the Opening [filename] dialog box, select Save File.

Step 7

When the download finishes, double-click the install file to begin the installation. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the product.

When you're done installing you will need to activate and register the product. Click Activate the product.

Step 9

Click into the text box and press Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste your product key. You can also right-click in the text box and select Paste. When finished, click Activate.

Refer to steps 1-3 above if you need to re-copy your product key.

NOTE: If you are working offline, please refer to the Offline Activation Help article for information on how to activate.

IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading versions and have paid your maintenance since the last time you completed offline activation, please contact customerservice@tableausoftware.com first.

Step 10

Click Register Now to continue to registration.

Step 11

Register the product by typing your Name, Company, Email address, and any other necessary information. Then click Register.

Step 12

When registration is successful, click Continue to start using the product. If you are installing Tableau Server, refer to the Administrator Guide for more detailed instructions on installing and setting up the server. If you would like to set up a distributed environment you will need to return to the account center and download the Tableau Server Worker installer. The Administrator Guide explains how to install and set up both your primary and worker machines for this kind of installation.
